The Eugene Scheel Research Collection is a mixed-media collection of reproduction photographs and digital surrogates of photographs retained by their owners. Many images in the collection appeared in various of Scheel's publications. It is an open collection. The Roger Powell, Ezekial Mount house, Mountville Store, and Crossroads School photographs are reproduction photographs; some have digital surrogates as well. The remaining images are digital surrogates only.

Roger Franklin Powell was born 5 Nov. 1906 to George Powell (12 Dec. 1868-15 Feb. 1947) and Maud May Ellmore Powell (3 Sept. 1879-24 Jan. 1945) of Broad Run, Va. Although he had little in the way of formal education he had a lifelong interest in history and genealogy, especially of Loudoun County, and became the premier historian of old lower Loudoun County.
